Pere and Margalida are a middle-aged couple facing monotony. Pere has lost his enthusiasm but Margalida continues to search for the magic of life. The discovery of the opera genre, an unexpected visit and an old book will take the couple on a journey through the past that could change their lives. The operetta buffa Il Teatro alla Moda in Catalan inspired by the book Il Teatro alla Moda by Benedetto Marcello, is an opera in two acts with a libretto by Marcel Pascual i Anguera and music by Carles Prat Vives. Benedetto Marcello was a composer and Venetian nobleman of the Baroque period. His best-known work is not, however, a musical composition, but the humorous pamphlet Il Teatro alla Moda, in which he makes an amusing critique of operatic practices in the first half of the 18th century.
